Unspoiled mid-century modern – This Myron Goldfinger-designed gem is located in the prestigious gated community of Llewellyn Park, New Jersey, 15 miles west of Manhattan, in a very private setting. With plenty of natural light and beautiful forest views, this 2500 SF home has two spacious bedrooms, two full baths including a master bath, living room with wood-burning fireplace, dining room, media room, library/office, galley kitchen with a breakfast nook.
The home’s interiors were in critical condition with heavy wear and tear – outdated bathrooms, fixtures, cabinetry, floors and appliances. Our client agreed to gut – renovate the entire residence to its bear bones, meaning new floors, new electrical wiring, new plumbing, new fixtures, new finishes. In all attempts to preserve the original essence of the dwelling, we chose to upgrade the aesthetic appeal with earth tones, concrete walls, organic materials and light colors matching existing trends of modern design of all eras, while maintaining Myron Goldfinger’s original open plan layout, leaving the existing walls where they were.
The master bathroom was redesigned to be completely transparent with glass wall dividers, a custom fabricated glass bathtub connects the toilet room with the shower stall. The home office received a wood ceiling installed in a unique pattern, expressed in herringbone patterns of a zig-zag forest. The contrasting combination of warm wood tones with cold arabescato marble was a huge success in this brightly lit home.
